Routine Monday. I spoke about self-regulation at the Secondary School Assembly at 0730. Early start to the day. Taught the last class of the Mully Model Leadership Workshop to all the grade 11s and to the Ndalani new teachers. Between classes met with students and senior beneficiaries whom I have known for up to four years. One young man startled me with the gratitude about how I had influenced him to persist in his ambitions, even two years ago. A very bright young man, he continues to work hard is setting himself up to find a way forward and he knows he will find the route he seeks. He will not give up. It is remarkable because this boy is from the most remote tribe in Africa, where death from deprivation/starvation is always nearby. Today he is an invaluable leader, employed for now at MCF doing Secondary student oversight.
Chaplains and teachers never know how critical they are when dealing with congregants and students. Very satisfying when out of nowhere comes such affirmation. Thank you Victor!
In prep for MCF Yatta I ensured the gifts from Canada were delivered. Then the proverbial afternoon nap.
Shirts from my Athletic club, toques from the church, and a new LED projector were given. Jesse also had collected school supplies, and Not Just Tourists gave a suitcase full of medical supplies left over from palliative home care patients.
Mother Esther received the gifts with her most kind smile and sends gratitude to all those who are supporting the children at Mully Children's Family. I know first hand how scarce are these items at MCF and know without equivocation they will find owners who will cherish and value them beyond measure. Thank you!!
Before supper I so enjoyed working with those 10 and under. I like to do bible stories in drama, and these youngsters are fully engaged. I needed a city called Samaria, four lepers, a dangerous enemy, and God's thunderstorm. It was wild and noisy night. I laughed, these kids are such hams! This is an obscure story from the second book of Kings. The moral of the story is simply that God uses often the cast outs like lepers to bring healing and safety to even those doing the casting out. How germane!
And supper with Jemimah, Kaleli's (one of the sons of Charles and Esther) wife, and well that's all folks. Tomorrow I move to MCF Yatta, which will be a whole other chapter.
