The highlight of the day as you can see from the screenshot of my computer screen Grade 11 students from St. Francis Xavier School, Manotick and Mully Secondary School MCF Ndalani has an hour long class discussing culture and faith. I peeked in like a fly on the wall, and I was delighted at the depth of discussions around racism, tribalism, and Canadian story of Residential Schools. Across so many time zones and countries, we watched people about 16 or 17 years old join together as one each side sharing the errors of history with the intentional hope to avoid repetition in their life time. Wow! It was great to witness, particularly because I had set it in motion.

Tuesday and it is the day of change. Seemed strange having not much to do as the Workshop in MCF Ndalani Grade 11s is completed. I slept a lot today, being tired out. Packed up my stuff. I met with Denis (pictured) as promised. I've known Denis now for four years, seen his transition from High School and listened to his "testimony" a couple years ago.
Had a quiet lunch with Dr. Charles and dropped in on the Grade 11 and Grade 12 to let them know I will be back to MCF Ndalani in few weeks.
Denis is a beneficiary and now working at MCF as a supervisor. Fluent in German, he is waiting for his student Visa as he will complete Hotel Administration degree in Germany. Pretty impressive given he started as a street urchin.
No wonder Charles said what is on this concrete wall. Cast in concrete indeed. I can simply echo these words, having heard dozens of such stories of success personally.
How do you feed all these children three square meals every day? With big pots cooking beans and maize, chicken, fish and vegetables all grown now by MCF.
I left for MCF Yatta around 1600, enjoyed what is called the African massage thanks to the rough state of the roads and a land rover's suspension.
I was ushered into the same quarters as last year. A bit rough, but clean and safe. Indoor plumbing, but no running hot water. It appears to get only a little use and a pipe is leaking a bit and the light bulbs were missing or burnt out. But the ceiling had been repaired and I felt right at home. Great supper of cabbage and potatoes served in the cottage by by dear friend from last year; Ruth. All is well.
