I was delighted to visit with the welders at MCF Yatta this afternoon. We studied teamwork as a gift of the Holy Spirit. Then we discussed other things about Canada and my family etc. It was a great meaningful purpose filled time.
I spent my afternoon writing a new Narrative about Yatta the farm. Supper then an energizing evening with young toddlers and the Mission Choir Yatta.
This is the beginning of the park for some African animals and even a crocodile pond. Antelope, giraffe, and zebra will be brought in to live in the enclosure. Some visitors to MCF want to see some animals, but do not go on a full fledged safari. This game park then becomes an affordable and convenient alternative.
There is progress and the front door takes shape. The inside of the entranceway and the ER ramp are being roughed in. The three wings are coming along, with two wings exterior nearly completed. This Mully Hospital will be a lifesaving center, a place for healthcare at reasonable costs and a center of health excellence as a level 5 (teaching) facility.
This is the small beginning of a researched dedicated garden for trees etc. with well known (in African tribes) with medicinal properties. It is expected that the trees here will be researched and used for their medicinal qualities. Typical small experimental start that when ready will be scaled up to fill 3 acres. Right now the experimental section to find out the trees which will do well in this climate is about 50 by 70 meters.
Today began at 7 with breakfast. I met the Highschool morning assembly at 0720, then walked over at 0730 to meet Pastor Josiah with the farm coworkers for words of encouragement and prayer.
A lovely visit with my friend Mr. Jerum until around 10, when Daniel, Yatta General Manager drove me around the farm for the new fence and the medicinal garden. I then took a quick ride up to photograph the hospital as it rises bold and welcoming out of the soil of MCF Yatta.
The evening was very special. I intended to visit the chapel to see their program but on the way I heard the Mission Choir practicing. I was drawn to the singing. Passing by the mothers' residence about 7 toddlers about 3 years old ran up and wanted to walk with me. Hugs and mambo all around. Little hands slipping into mine as they smiled and laughed. I then turned back intending to make sure they were back near their residence with mothers.
I made my way alongside many young people who were seeking to speak to the medic Alex on duty. The choir is in the same spot. I sat down thanks to the kindness of Alex on a chair and immediately three of the toddlers were all over me, climbing over me, wanting to hold my hands, laughing with childhood glee calling me baba (daddy). The choir rehearsed, the toddlers played about at my feet, and wow, what a privileged place to be. The choir welcomed me with genuine affection, the mothers came to claim their children who were hauled away to be with some howling in protest, and I was affectionally included in all of their dynamics.
A mission choir college student came alongside for some personal advice about a relationship problem. She had been a student of mine during the Mully Model Leadership Workshop. And when that conversation concluded, I returned feeling very good about life, even if a little tired.
