Wow what a surprise! Suddenly I was meeting Ndalani High School students in Yatta. Tonight following the sound of a choir I found myself at the evening devotions of young students and I realized suddenly they were my students from the High School in Ndalani. To relieve the pressure on Ndalani about 80 students and 13 teachers were transferred on Monday from Ndalani. I was so surprised to see them here in a section built out of corrugated iron sheets for them last year.
The grade 12 students wanted lots of photos and so I have published a carousel above. At their call I took a lot of crazy photos and I am delighted to show them here. The students are in great spirits as you can see, and they are ready to make an impact on the campus at MCF Yatta.
Evening devotions and I was called to teach and I chose I Corinthians 13 1-13 on love. It was unprepared, and it was cocolastic!! While they were singing, including O Canada, time stood still and my eyes burned with tears of joy. Once again a mystical moment when everything seemed brighter, sound sharper, harmonies more vibrant, and all was well with the world. Loved the sensation, even as momentary as it was! Kairos.
End of the day debrief with Pastor Josiah, Mr. Innocent, and Mr. Christopher. We have become great comrades, enjoying the cool part of the late afternoon, exchanging anecdotes and reflections on the amazing service in which we are living at MCF. Interestingly, they were wondering how to capture as a credit course the Mully Model including the leadership workshop. They are also noticing that it is time to document the stories of MCF as it is expected to have real impact on the welfare of Kenya. The Narratives may be some of that documentation.
The rest of the day was a steady lecture day. The students, including the teachers continued to say how valuable is the Mully Model Leadership Workshop for them. The validation from the feedback leaves me a bit shaken, as it is clear this workshop, with this material has significant and apparently long lasting impact. I will never know what these hundreds of students who have been exposed to the workshop will do with it, but I know something very positive is happened and will continue to emerge in the ,lives of these amazing transformed children.
Today began with a lecture a ten, then at 11.30 with the College Teachers, and then again at 1400. There is the usual admin to catch up. In particular we are working on a way to ensure all the students receive their list of character strengths, given so many missed last evening because of heavy rain.
