No time to get bored. I had to put in my day finding things to do. Off to visit with the senior staff only to find they were busy in meetings all day. Took the opportunity to thank the computer lab guy Joshua for helping score the surveys (all 139 of them). Then off to coffee at my quarters, when the lawn maintenance crew took two passes outside my door.
The rainy season is here and temperatures in the morning run about 18 degrees C. The students and staff are bundled up with extra clothing and coats, I am in shorts and t-shirt as usual. They keep asking if I am cold, I am not at all; they think I am a bit abnormal. I explain I am proudly Canadian!
I completed a second Narrative on MCF Yatta, the farm, took a nap and enjoyed lunch. Transport was laid on for 1500, so I returned to the main office. I sat outside in a favorite spot and student after student came alongside to wish me well. Susan stopped a bit longer and gave me her testimony. She is from one of the most remote desert north land of Kenya, the Turkana. Her story is both typical and gripping. Narrative materiel.
A great spot for photos. Both of these students wanted to hear about Canada and my family/friends, looking at my photos. At the end they, like so many others wished me well, urged me to come back and bring familoy. They sent theire best wishes to my people in Canada, and were delighted when I promised to do so.
The drive back to Ndalani was uneventful. I arrived and greeted Dr. Charles and his son Dickson. I had to find a student to give her her list of gifts of the Holy Spirit and was lucky to spot her right away.
I greeted my friends of hospitality, admin, and kitchen staff. Sammy Skunk and I dropped in the devotions for the toddlers, who greeted us with great enthusiasm. I offered a story about Hagar and Ishmael in the desert.
A great supper then the most exciting moment of the day: a shower with real running hot water. Wow! This is luxury five star plus service. A bit lonely though because in Yatta I had middle of the night visitors of the feline nature, looking to steal my leftovers. Shu shu! There was also a small resident gecko appearing on the walls most evenings in Yatta. But that shower...wow!
