Everyday the women and mothers are doing laundry by hand. The men are doing the same kind of thing, but I do not pass by their quarters.
I took this at a distance. I did not want to embarrass these women as they worked so hard bending over the buckets of soapy water, then hauling them over to the tap to be hand rinsed. To dry the clothes are spread out on the hedges. It shows just how strong and resilient are these young women. And by the way, they are usually singing hymns as they work.
Tuesday was a regular busy three lecture day. The power was out all night in my quarters so I took many electronics to the computer lab in order to recharge stuff.
The electricians appeared at 1630 and worked for an hour at my quarters to isolate the problem and restore the lights: and lo and behold let there be light.
