First thing today I gave the final lecture of the Mully Model Leadership Workshop in front of nearly all the College students and senior staff.
Afterwards they took the time to thank me. A student said that it would be great if I were to join the College as a full time lecturer. The Principal suggested I make two trips a year to Mully College. Truly they touched my soul so much with their heartfelt appreciation about me and the material of the Workshop.
It was great to debrief. We discussed administering all the surveys at the same time (save lecture time) the need for another Mully Model Leadership trainer, next year's timetable being a bit longer to accommodate the High school. Mr. Josiah will follow up with the left over admin bits. The Mully Collage has a template they can modify to make a Certificate.
I also offered a way for the College to build a credit course on the Mully Model.
From the marginalized tribe of Pokot, his father was military with good income. A white missionary persuaded him in 1998 that the end of the world was coming in 2000, so he quite his job to prepare. In fact the world continued and left him without means to support himself of his family. The poverty was crushing. He became angry and despondent, cursing Christianity and the its lies.
From this poverty came this applicant to the Mully College. Izamov continues to struggle hard with faith issues and spent a long time with me discussing belief issues with which he is struggling. Fascinating!
After supper I said fare thee well to the highschoolers. It was a bit sad, but full of optimism and gratitude knowing that we will be holding each other in our hearts and prayers until next year.
Then taking Jerum up on his invitation, I joined him and his household for a lovely visit for the rest of the evening. He took his supper around 2100, I had eaten already. At risk of insult, I took only a small bite of his supper: ugali, kale, and matoke (potato and banana). I hope they understood, that I was truly unable to take more. We had had tea, bread and honey, and a chicken "smokey."
My rack (navy term for bed) started to call my name and so I made my way back to my quarters to retire to a good night's sleep.
